RICHARD RIOS
I'm an artist who specializes in narrative and sequential art... basically, I thrive on drawing ideas all the way out. Advertising, film, interactive and experiential media, and occasionally animation. My BFA is in Directing, so I understand composition and creating shots that are interesting and actually shootable.

Obviously with the way the themed industry works, most of the cool stuff I've worked on is still probably years away from being showable. And some of the stuff that is* in this section is pretty old at this point. But hopefully this gives you a good idea of what I do, and can do.

ART DIRECTION

Speaking of things that are years away from showing, this section might be the most bare. Why start with it? Because it's the thing I'm most proud of at the moment.
SO here's some original concept art on an original idea I've worked up just for this.

This may be in the Art Direction section, but it's really more of a direction direction thing. The art style was established, but I came in and decided the shots, illustrated and animated.

PROJECTION MAPPING

Debuting in November 2022, it was a projection mapping / sound and lights show as well as a fantastic look into a few heartfelt WWII stories.

OOH ADVERTISING

A fun project in an unusual format. This was a fresh format for both myself and the creative team, so a lot of problem solving went into this 3D ad on Times Square's 'Big Kahuna'.

INTERACTIVES
Interactives are always a fun challenge. Not just to figure out how they work, but also to figure out how to illustrate that for a client.
These concepts were from a project for the Saudi Ministry of Culture. While the project was rocky and ultimately halted, the team was fantastic and some great ideas came out of it.

Here are several concepts experimented with, but not sure which (if any) were used.
